How does AI Web Scraping Work?

To perform the web scrape GrabzIt uses Generative AI. Generative AI excels at extracting entities from unstructured text. The process begins with natural language processing (NLP), which is employed to cleanse and tidy the text data. This step readies the data for consumption by generative AI models. Subsequently, transformer models process the cleaned data, adeptly extracting relevant information and identifying discernible patterns.

How do you set up an AI powered web scrape?

Simply specify the item you want such as "article title" or "price". Each item should be a separate scrape command. If you want to get multiple items simply make the item text plural. Such as "article titles" or "prices".

So in this example we want to get article titles, dates and links from the astropioneer.blog.

First create a scrape as usual. Speccify the website you want to extract data from. Then to create an AI command go to the Scrape Instructions tab click Add New Scrape Instruction. Then choose Scrape Data with AI. Then enter the item you want to extract, for instance "article link". Then press Save.

Each scrape instruction is added to the dataset, which allows you to clean or modify the data before proceeding, as described in the documentation. Once you have completed this step press Next.

Repeat the process for each item of data you want to scrape! Here is a sample of the data that was extracted from the website in the slide show above.
